Happy 2nd Birthday Maiya

I want to thank everyone who helped us celebrate our baby girl's 2nd birthday.  It was such a special day for us and Maiya had such a good time with her family and friends.  I will say she had the party blues once everyone left and it was time for her to go to bed for the night.  She was not ready for her party to be over and it was a very hard concept for her that after all that it was over.  Nonetheless she had a great time and so did mommy and daddy.

I say it all the time how hard it is to believe that my kids are yet another year older and Maiya turning two is no exception.  I can remember the day she was born like it was yesterday and to think it was really two years ago blows my mind.  What a joy Maiya brings to my life!  Watching her grow from a little baby into a little girl has been so much fun.  I look forward to the next year and what new joys this sweet girl will bring me.

I want to say a special thanks to Shana for making Maiya's cookies.  They turned out awesome and I loved them and so did Maiya.  Shana has her own cookie business called Sugarcoated Cookies so make sure you give her a call if you ever need party favors.  :)

Unexpected Tears

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Andrew's last day of preschool.  Honestly where did the time go?  When I think back to orientation and the first week of school I would have thought the year would have dragged on forever.  Instead Andrew ended up loving school and loving his teachers.  He truly looks forward to going to school everyday and I owe it to the teachers and staff for making it such a wonderful experience for him.

As I walked into the school today I wasn't feeling sad or emotional just kind of thinking it was another day only we were bringing them their gifts because I knew that tomorrow would be a crazy day and didn't want them to be overwhelmed.  Andrew handed Ms. Kathy her gift and all of a sudden it hit me and the tears came, which I was totally not expecting.  I mean it isn't like he is going to Kindergarten next year so really why would I be crying.  The reason is because of how far Andrew has come since the first day.  The first week of holding on for dear life to my leg not wanting to let go and then now saying "bye mom, I love you" and waving to me out the window (our morning ritual, even forgetting every now and then).

I am so proud of Andrew for being a big boy.  I am amazed at how grown up he is now and I am looking forward to a great summer with him and Maiya.

Possible New Product

I was contacted last night by a lady looking for a handmade Minnie Mouse invitation.  She loved my large door hanger and wanted something to match that look, but she also wanted it simple.  So last night I worked on a sample for her and it took me over an hour to make her just one.   I LOVED how it turned out and so did she.  She wants to order 35 and thankfully she doesn't need them until June so it gives me plenty of time to make them.  I only charged her $2.75 per card but I think if I decide to list them I will charge $3.00-$3.25 each.  The detail work that goes into the Minnie faces is pretty time consuming.

The pictures are not great because I took them at 9:00pm but it gives you an idea of the look.  I would love to know what you guys think.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there.  I hope you all were spoiled and got some time to relax and enjoy the day.  I for one had a great day and love spending the time with my family.
I got to sleep in and then we went to Lowes so we could work in the yard...well so Andy could work in the yard.  Then we enjoyed a very nice lunch at the new Suwanee Mellow Mushroom!

Maiya's First Haircut

Today we took Maiya to get her first haircut...it only took two years to get to this point!  Everyone kept making fun of her hair and saying she had a mullet so I decided that I would just bite the bullet and get it done.  It was hard to watch them cut at her beautiful curls but luckily she still has them and they actually seem to be much more vibrant.  I have been telling Andrew that it was time to get Maiya's haircut and he looks at me with such sad eyes and says 'but mom I don't want her curls to go away!'  It was so sweet because he always calls her Miss Curls.

Here are some pictures from today.  She looks adorable and had no problem sitting in the chair.  She was not phased at all by the process.  Thankfully!

Maiya and Andrew playing before their haircuts.  Notice how long her hair had gotten!

The first cut of her very long hair and curls.

Totally okay with everything going on.
Just watching the lady cut her hair.  Doing totally fine.
CHEESE!!!  Look how pretty!
Tada...the finished look!

They took off a lot of her hair which may be hard to see, but her hair when wet would go to the middle of her back.  It looks really cute and she has no idea that her hair is different.  Andrew and mommy are happy because her curls still look really good!

A great experience for Maiya and mommy!
